I visited Longo Mai from January 3, 2020 – January -6, 2020. I was expecting the people there to live a primitive lifestyle and have limited modern amenities. I was surprised to find out that many of the people in Longo Mai have TVs, cellphones, fans, and even wifi. Their lifestyle is still simple, but they are not completely disconnected from technology. There were also more than enough wall outlets for me to charge my devices each night.

The food there was amazing as well. Most meals are eaten with black beans and white rice, as a side. Each meal was fresh and many of the ingredients were locally grown. I drank water often with each meal. The water quality in Longo Mai is incredibly clean, which means the water tastes amazing. It’s way better than any water I’ve tasted in the United States.
